Description (brief history)

The two key themes the Rural Aberdeenshire LAG Strategy are focusing on are Revitalising Communities and Progressive Rural Economy.

The LAG is a publi/proivate partnership comprising 14 member organisations.

The Rural Aberdeenshire LEADER Programme was launched in June 2008. To date the programme has approved 102 projects.

Activities

The LAG promotes LEADER throughout the LAG area. The LAG assesses LEADER applications. The LAG promotes co-operation with other LAG areas - inter-territorial and transnational.

The LAG operates under the Rural Aberdeenshire LEADER programme Terms of Reference.

Aims & Objectives

All approved projects relate to one or both of the LAG's key themes and at least one of the LAG's strategic priorities. The priorities the Rural Aberdeenshire LAG Strategy are focusing on are:

Sustainable Communities Sustainable Energy Innovative Value Added Products and Markets Sustainable Tourism Development Innovative Micro Enterprise Versatile Rural Workforce Conservation of the rural environment

The overarching Community Planning Themes of Community Wellbeing, Jobs and the Economy, Lifelong Learning and Sustainable Environment are core to the partnership and establishment of the Rural Aberdeenshire LAG.
